Area Towns - KentKent is establishing a reputation as the "Art Center of Connecticut," since many artists and creative people have found their niche in this quaint little town nestled along the banks of the Housatonic River. In addition to a number of galleries, Kent has a lively assortment of antiques and specialty shops.
Kent Falls, which is located three miles north of Kent on Route 7, is one of Connecticut's most scenic parks because of its 200-foot cascading waterfall. A stepped pathway adjacent to the falls provides a spectacular view of the rushing waters at all levels. Other popular recreational areas in the town are Macedonia Brook State Park, Lake Waramaug State Park, Wyantenock State Forest, Emery Park, Kent Common, Pond Mountain Nature Trail, Iron Mountain Reservation Nature Trail, Weantinogue Reserve (Cobble Brook Trail) and the Kent Land Trust (River Walk). To the south, a major historical landmark is Bulls Bridge, one of only two covered bridges in Connecticut. This bridge reportedly served as a crossing point for George Washington during the Revolutionary War.
