Area Towns - Roxbury
Nestled in the hills along scenic Routes 67, 133 and 199, Roxbury was settled in 1710 and incorporated as a town in 1796. Its rural landscape is enhanced by its farms, nature preserves, Shepaug River, waterfalls and Lake Lillinonah waterfront. Proud of its heritage, each year the town's Historical Society hosts Old Roxbury Days, giving residents and visitors a taste of Roxbury's past. Another popular event in town is the annual Roxbury Pickin' and Fiddlin' Contest.
