Sherman, located on the northern end of Candlewood Lake, offers its residents the country charm of New England landscapes as well as close proximity to highways leading to New York City, Hartford and beyond.

Because of its small size, the town's center, along Route 37, can be missed if you blink, but be sure to stop and enjoy the hardware store, the library, the grocery and local restaurants. Known for its theater productions, the Sherman Playhouse has become a popular leisuretime destination.

Sherman operates under a Board of Selectmen/Board of Finance form of government. Sherman children in grades K-8 attend the Sherman School, and students then have a choice of attending neighboring high schools: Regional School District 12, New Milford School District, New Fairfield School District or Brookfield School District.
